Beechwood College, first of its kind in Wales specialist residential college for students with Aspergers and Autism

Life Skills

The focus of Life Skills staff team is to provide a high standard of care and independent life skills assistance to the students at Beechwood College.

We aim to nurture skills that will develop our students’ independence, choice-making and problem-solving. We will enable students to access both local and home-based community settings endeavouring to maintain close links with their families, friends and home networks.

Life Skills for people with Austistic Spectrum Disorder

Students at Beechwood will be encouraged to work towards receiving accreditation for life skills and developing independent living competence, and to actively develop social skills through community activities.

This is administered through structured teaching programmes and reinforce in parallel experiences in the residential setting.

"Our main aspirations are to support the students in reaching their full potential in every aspect of their life through choice, structure and a consistent waking hour’s approach which enables a learning outcome from all activities."
