Independent Living Skills

Students are encouraged to develop their independent living skills in relations to their own ability and confidence throughout their waking day. Activities include basic cooking, general housekeeping tasks, dressing skills, shopping, using public transport and visiting community based venues such as libraries, museums and places of interest. Student will work on developing their understanding of concepts such as money, time literacy and communication. They will learn how to  product simple snacks and meals which are healthy and inexpensive, whilst also dealing with the associated issues of safety. They will also be encouraged to practice these tasks as  independently as possible, using more convenience based foods where applicable.
