Each Beechwood student will follow an individual curriculum focusing on further developing their strengths, needs and interests. Knowledge of these strengths enables college staff to work together alongside a multi-disciplinary team to plan for and provide learning experiences in social real-life contexts. This unique collaborative approach consolidates learning and allows students to reach their full potential. A high level of professional and specialist material and research are available at Beechwood College to ensure that every opportunity is provided for students to access a broad and balanced curriculum. ICT will play an active part throughout learning to promote independent learning and opportunities for self study.

The residential facilities provide individual bedrooms for each student, assisted bathrooms, large lounges, dining rooms and kitchens. The College also has a main catering kitchen and large laundry room
The curriculum at Beechwood provides access to a range of nationally recognised qualifications and accredited courses in independent living skills, vocational training, work experience and social and leisure development opportunities. For students working at Pre-Entry Level, a framework of activities will be accredited through the Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN) “Towards Independence” modules. Students working at Entry Level will be able to obtain the ASDAN Certificate in Life Skills qualification. The Open College Network (OCN) will accredit a range of learning opportunities for students relating to their interest or basic skills needs. The National Skills Profile provides a focus on the acquisition and development of the Key Skills as well as a variety of vocationally related modules. Accreditation will encompass all aspects of a student’s life and study at Beechwood
